The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bat looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Bat slips under a jab from Shimada.
Shimada with a nice cross.
Shimada looks to throw the jab but Bat is out of range.
Bat fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Shimada avoids it really well and circles away.
Shimada lands a really nice looking cross but Bat seems unphased.
Bat is rocked!
Shimada cracks a nice hook into Bat's ribs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bat throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Shimada changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Shimada throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Shimada, as that shot connected.
Bat is still on wobbly legs! Can Shimada finish him?
Shimada fakes the body blow, causing Bat to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Bat goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!

Gracie got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ladd has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gracie has managed to get both his arms back between Ladd's legs - danger averted.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gracie wants to get up but he can't break Ladd's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Gracie really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ladd. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ladd pulls Gracie in to control the position.
Gracie wants to stand but Ladd has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Ladd is looking to cinch up a triangle. Gracie throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Ladd's body to avoid the submission. Ladd has instead reached around Gracie's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Ladd arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

McCoy misses with a straight left.
Zero was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Zero fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops McCoy to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! McCoy looks to clinch but Zero throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! McCoy taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

Shunsui Kyoraku seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Shotz is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Shotz has an Americana. Kyoraku didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Shotz is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Shotz hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
