Escobar throws a combination. Rondo tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
It looks like Rajon Rondo has been cut.
Rondo looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Iwanowicz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Clapper has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Iwanowicz has managed to get both his arms back between Clapper's legs - danger averted.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Carter!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tyson Drew!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drew takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Drew is defended easily by Carter.
Drew bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Drew keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Carter jabs Drew right on the nose. Drew blinks but takes it well.
Carter throws a one two combo.
Drew on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Carter scores with a nice head shot.
Carter is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Drew misses with a few strikes there.
Carter scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
A jab lands there for Carter.
Carter throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Drew stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Carter cracks Drew with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Carter connects with a body shot.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Carter works over Drew's head and body with a nice combination.
Drew rushes Carter and presses him up against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Drew lands a damaging elbow.
It looks like Paul Carter has been cut.
Drew softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Drew lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Carter moves into full guard.
Carter will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Carter is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Carter is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Drew is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Drew missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Carter manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Drew is squirming around, avoiding Carter's attempts to control the action.
Drew really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carter. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Drew can't escape the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Drew sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Carter looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Carter trying to control from half guard but Drew is working away.
Drew is looking for a sweep. Carter is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Drew gets full guard.
Carter slips nicely into half guard.
Carter drops an elbow to the side of Drew's head.
Carter moves into full mount! Drew won't be happy about that!
Carter looking to control but Drew is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Drew can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Drew is wriggling around trying to escape.
Carter moves to take his opponent's back.
Carter is working for a rear naked choke. Drew is not defending it well and Carter has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Drew refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Drew's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Paul Carter!
