Undercard bout

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sloa Poison (ranked 5698 p4p, 24851 weight class) and Johnny Liew (ranked 364 p4p, 376 weight class). Sloa Poison had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 146.6lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Liew has Poison up against the cage in a clinch.

Liew jumps guard but Poison stands there with Liew around his waist. Liew gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Steez connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Smiff momentarily.
Smiff takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Smiff closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Steez throws a good cross that connects.

Smiff shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Steez manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Steez wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Smiff manages to pass to side control.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Smiff has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Smiff is trying to control the action in half guard but Steez is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Smiff perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Smiff passes the guard and advances to mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Steez has left one of his arms exposed and Smiff doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Steez screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
