Tonon throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Orsic tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Tonon is in Orsic's guard.
Orsic bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Tonon's guard.

Tonon has Orsic pulled in close to control his posture.
Tonon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tonon is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Orsic has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tonon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Tonon tries to free his leg and advance position but Orsic is retaining full guard.
Tonon is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Tonon lands with an overhand left.
Tonon shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Orsic as he avoids it easily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Tonon is defended easily by Orsic.
Mate Orsic has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Damian Tonon.
Orsic steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Tonon.
Left hook, right uppercut from Orsic.
A jab from Tonon finds it's way through Orsic's defenses.

Tonon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

and Tonon takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Orsic bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Tonon's head backwards.
Orsic takes a swing at Tonon's ribcage but misses.
Orsic takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mate Orsic.
I think Orsic has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Main event

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eugeniy Tryastsyn (ranked 118 p4p, 109 weight class) and Butch Frewin (ranked 13 p4p, 12 weight class). Frewin is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Billy the Squid's Water Pistol by The Neptunas. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Eugeniy Tryastsyn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Butch Frewin!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Ian Loll and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tryastsyn throws a big shot that misses.
Tryastsyn tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Frewin swivels and escapes.
It seemed like Frewin was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
A combination from Tryastsyn does no damage.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Frewin! But no joy.
Eugeniy Tryastsyn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Frewin connects with a single shot there.

Tryastsyn shoots in and bounces Frewin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Frewin has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Tryastsyn is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Tryastsyn can't get the takedown.

Frewin breaks from the clinch.
Frewin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Frewin counters with a left right combination that sends Tryastsyn crashing to the mat - Frewin wastes no time in diving on top of him and pounding Tryastsyn out for a TKO! Devastating finish!
