We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Pixley has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Badou has closed the distance and engaged Pixley in a clinch.
Badou has Pixley pushed against the cage.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Badou obliges.
Badou lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Badou digs a right hand into Pixley's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Pixley's gas tank.

Taylor scores with a decent looking hook.
Cross's coach down at Count Dante's Deadliest Academy was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Cross's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
A telegraphed right hand from Taylor misses the target.
Taylor is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Cross.
Taylor ducks under a wild hook from Cross.
Taylor throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Cross is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Cross tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Taylor defends well and Cross ends up having to push Taylor into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Taylor was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Taylor lands with a straight right. Cross didn't see that one coming.
Cross shoots for a double leg takedown but Taylor sprawls well. He's pushed Cross's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Taylor ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cross moves away.
Cross feints the counter takedown.
Taylor wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Cross swings for the body but Taylor moves out of range.

Cross changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Taylor tries to avoid it but Cross manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Taylor to the ground. Taylor escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
We've been told by Taylor's head coaches at 3Band MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Kevin Taylor has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Simon Cross.

Kadurov content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Gable has locked up a guillotine! Gable's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Kadurov is holding on here and Gable must be using up a lot of energy. Kadurov has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Gable gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Dragan looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Dragan is trying to get back to his feet but Joe has full control of the position and if anything, Dragan has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Joe is cranking Dragan's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Dragan! He's tightened the choke and Dragan is tapping out!

Krabutov darts in looking for a takedown but Chai gets double underhooks and turns Krabutov into the cage.
Krabutov throws a body shot but no joy.
Chai swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Krabutov tries to move into range but Chai moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Chai lunges at Krabutov with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Krabutov's hand.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Chai, as that shot connected.

With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Finlay Standifer!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Fedor Mirinova and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Caceres shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Standifer napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Caceres is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Standifer to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Standifer shrugs it off.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Let's hope that Standifer has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
