The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Zekariays Solomon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jimmy Nitro!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nitro misses with a hook
and Solomon counters with a nice body shot.
We've been informed that Nitro has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Solomon gets the takedown into side control.

Solomon has hold of Nitro's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Nitro manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Nitro is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Solomon defends well.

Solomon escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nitro gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Nitro got a little sloppy there for a moment and Solomon has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Nitro has managed to get both his arms back between Solomon's legs - danger averted.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Nitro is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Solomon is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Solomon has escaped and now he's on top!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Nitro looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Solomon puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
