Lazar bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Towers is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Lazar is controlling him well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lazar in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Lazar lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Towers down.

Lazar is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Towers is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Lazar slows the pace down.
Towers pushes Lazar away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Lazar gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Towers is trying to escape the position but Lazar is controlling the position.
Lazar works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Lazar has hold of Towers's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Towers tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Lazar cranks the arm and Towers screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Towers, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Jota tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Jota jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Velazquez walks away with a smile on his face. Jota gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Jota darts in and clinches Velazquez up against the cage.
Velazquez is trying to push Jota away but Jota has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Jota jumps guard but Velazquez stands there with Jota around his waist. Jota gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alex Jota. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Velazquez jumps guard but Jota turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Jota ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jota no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Jota definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Velazquez content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Jota has locked up a guillotine! Jota's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Velazquez is holding on here and Jota must be using up a lot of energy. Velazquez has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Jota gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
