Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Pekka Kokko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Harold Cordova!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cordova throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kokko was covering up waiting for the punch and Cordova finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Kokko controls Cordova momentarily but Cordova frees himself.
Cordova controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Cordova drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cordova jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kokko not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Cordova controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Cordova wants to pass the guard but Kokko is keeping the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Cordova looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kokko is fending him off so far but Cordova persists. Nope, Kokko circles away and we're back to standing.
Cordova throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kokko's waist but Kokko gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cordova off to one side.

Van Damme kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Wai khru ram muay. Briggs has chosen The Stopper by Cutty Ranks as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!
