The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some bone on bone action there as Der Veer Jr checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Oni works the jab nicely.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Oni is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Der Veer Jr is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Der Veer Jr tries to score a power double leg takedown but Oni sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Der Veer Jr somewhat.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Der Veer Jr has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
