PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bastian Klose (ranked 4435 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miguel Perez (ranked 24031 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bastian Klose!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Miguel Perez!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Joseph Jones and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Klose changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Perez tries to avoid it but Klose manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Perez to the ground. Perez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Despite the aggression on Perez's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Klose throws a body kick that misses.

Klose clinches up against the cage.

Klose pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Perez tries to clinch there but Klose circles away.
Klose is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Perez closes the distance and clinches up with Klose, looking for a takedown. Perez pushes Klose against the cage but Klose circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Klose fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Perez avoids it really well and circles away.

Klose has closed the distance and engaged Perez in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Perez tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Klose smiles and moves away.
Perez stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Perez wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bastian Klose. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Klose shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Perez as he jumps to the side.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Perez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Klose swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Klose was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Klose shoots in looking for a takedown but Perez manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Klose's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Perez tries to counter by closing the distance.
The fight stays on the outside here - Perez looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A big right from Klose misses.
Perez comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Klose fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Perez fails in his attempt to clinch.
Klose misses with a takedown attempt - Perez sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Klose has Perez up against the cage in a clinch.

Klose breaks the clinch.
Klose tries a head kick but it misses.
Perez tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Klose defends well and Perez ends up having to push Klose into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Klose fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Perez avoids it really well and circles away.
Perez closes this distance looking for a takedown but Klose circles away.
Klose will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Perez wants to counter with a clinch but Klose pushes him away.
Perez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Klose sprawls well. Klose wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Perez gets slowly back to his feet.
As Perez looks to move away, Klose throws a big counter combo but Perez just gets out of the way.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Klose avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The fight stays on the outside here - Perez looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Perez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Klose paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Perez fails with a takedown attempt.
Horrible takedown attempt by Perez or perhaps it was just good defense by Klose, which made it look bad.
Klose dives in and grabs Perez's left leg, looking for a takedown. Perez pushes down on Klose's head and hops out.
Perez unleashes a big counter combination but Klose bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Klose misses with a wild combination.
Perez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Klose.
Perez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Klose.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Klose goes for a double leg but Perez avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Perez continues to drive forward.
Klose shoots in and drives through. Perez sprawls well.
Perez shoots in but no luck this time.
Perez tries to clinch there but Klose circles away.
Klose lands a two punch combo.
Perez tries to clinch but Klose moves out of range.
Perez keeps Klose at a distance using the push kick.
Perez avoids a punch combination nicely.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Perez tests Klose's chin there with a solid looking shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bastian Klose dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Klose dives in for a single leg takedown but Perez sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Perez connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Perez doesn't manage to clinch there - Klose circles away.
Perez shoots in looking for a takedown. Klose tries to sprawl out of it but Perez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Klose manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Perez showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Klose.

Klose tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Perez avoids it.
Klose is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Perez pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Klose gets underhooks to prevent Perez's takedown attempt.
Klose taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Klose pulls Perez into guard.

Klose has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Perez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Klose has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Klose pushes a forearm under Perez's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Perez is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
