PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Daren Devilin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nolan Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Martin is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Face the Pain. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daren Devilin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nolan Martin!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Martin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Devilin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Martin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Devilin swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Devilin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Martin has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Nice uppercut lands for Martin. That snapped Devilin's head back.
Devilin looks for the body kick but Martin saw that one coming.
Martin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Daren Devilin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Devilin.
Martin throws a leg kick but Devilin checks it.
Martin takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Martin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Devilin takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Martin is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Devilin can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Martin sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Martin is on top in guard.

Daren Devilin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nolan Martin.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Well Martin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
