Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Krisis Gudlevskis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jesse Conrad!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gudlevskis gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Conrad to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Gudlevskis is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Conrad's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Gudlevskis wants to sweep but no luck.
Gudlevskis looking to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Conrad slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Conrad is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Conrad wanted to stand there but Gudlevskis had control of the position.

Gudlevskis wants to control but Conrad passes easily into half guard.
Gudlevskis wants to get back to his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Conrad is taking a breather. Gudlevskis says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Gudlevskis leaves Conrad with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
As Conrad tries to get set, Gudlevskis tries to push him back and clinch up but Conrad manages to avoid the attempt.

Conrad moves into the clinch.

Conrad breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Gudlevskis doesn't manage to clinch there - Conrad circles away.
Conrad throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Conrad dives in and scores a takedown into Gudlevskis's guard.
Gudlevskis wants to sweep here but Conrad controlling him for the moment.

Conrad landing with the ground and pound.
Conrad working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Gudlevskis's head.
Gudlevskis controls Conrad momentarily but Conrad frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Conrad stays in close to Gudlevskis's body and controls the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gudlevskis thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Conrad's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Gudlevskis keeping full guard, as Conrad tries to pass.

Conrad won't allow Gudlevskis to get back to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Gudlevskis fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Conrad avoids it really well and circles away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Gudlevskis dives in for a single leg takedown but Conrad sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Conrad feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jesse Conrad dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Conrad feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Conrad must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Conrad stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gudlevskis swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Conrad shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Conrad was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Gudlevskis is looking to reverse the position.
Conrad has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Conrad goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Gudlevskis rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Conrad's guard! Nice work there by Gudlevskis!

Conrad escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gudlevskis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Gudlevskis is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Conrad is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Conrad can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Gudlevskis is really struggling to control Conrad but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Gudlevskis tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Conrad swivels and escapes.

Gudlevskis fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jesse Conrad showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Conrad really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gudlevskis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Conrad tries to buck Gudlevskis off but he can't manage it.

Krisis Gudlevskis showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Conrad has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
