PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Perez (ranked 24001 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leonardo Dos Santos (ranked 24091 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Miguel Perez has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Miguel Perez seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Miguel Perez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Leonardo Dos Santos !
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, David Schapiro and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perez lands a head kick!

Dos Santos moves into the clinch.
Perez tries to break the clinch but Dos Santos is controlling the position.
Dos Santos tries to pull guard but Perez holds him up against the cage and eventually Dos Santos drops back down to his feet.
Perez has Dos Santos pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Dos Santos manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Perez is trying to break the clinch but Dos Santos has him pressed against the cage.

Perez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Dos Santos avoids it really well and circles away.
And Dos Santos tries to counter it with a takedown but Perez pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Dos Santos stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Perez half committed to a counter leg kick.
Perez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Dos Santos shoots in and bounces Perez off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Dos Santos slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Dos Santos drops back, looking for a kneebar! Perez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Perez looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Perez!

Dos Santos explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Perez gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Dos Santos to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Perez is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Dos Santos dives into side control.

Dos Santos is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Perez will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Perez throws a jab when Dos Santos was well out of range.
Dos Santos shoots in for a double leg but Perez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Dos Santos is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Perez gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Perez gets control of Dos Santos 's arms and successfully pulls guard. Perez will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Perez tries for a takedown but Dos Santos manages to get underhooks.
Dos Santos is trying to break free.
Dos Santos has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Dos Santos breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Perez is pressed up against the cage. Dos Santos has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Perez down to the mat. Perez avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Miguel Perez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Leonardo Dos Santos .

Dos Santos tries to score a body lock takedown but Perez shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Dos Santos jumps guard and drags Perez to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

and Dos Santos counters with a three punch combo that has Perez backing up. Perez nods at Dos Santos to acknowledge the strikes.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Perez looks for a takedown but Dos Santos sprawls well.

Leonardo Dos Santos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Perez.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dos Santos is landing with some decent strikes but Perez is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Dos Santos is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Perez to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Perez shrugs it off.

Leonardo Dos Santos comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dos Santos has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
