Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dersu Uzala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicklas Mattsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mattsson has chosen Utah Saints - Something good '08 as his entrance music. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mattsson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Uzala scores a takedown into full mount!

Uzala has hold of Mattsson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Mattsson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mattsson is looking to get to half guard.
Uzala tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Uzala thowing shots but they're missing.
Mattsson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Mattsson is looking to control Uzala's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mattsson avoid being mounted?

Mattsson wants to control the action here but instead Uzala manages to pass to full mount!

Uzala is going olschool here, as he tries to force Mattsson to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Mattsson shrugs it off.
Uzala throws some wild stikes that Mattsson manages to avoid easily.

Uzala is working for a guillotine from mount but Mattsson frees his head quite easily.
BOOM! Uzala connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Uzala fails to take his opponent's back.
Mattsson tries to reverse the position but Uzala maintains control.
Mattsson tries to hold on but Uzala pushes him away.
Uzala moves to the back.

Uzala looking for the choke from the back.
Uzala is breathing heavily.

Uzala is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Mattsson has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Mattsson wants to escape the position.

Mattsson wants to control his opponent's hands but Uzala gets his hands free.
Mattsson turns into Uzala and is now in his guard.
Uzala has Mattsson pulled in close to control his posture.
Uzala looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Mattsson wants to control from the top but Uzala keeps moving.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Mattsson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Uzala had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Mattsson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Uzala Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Mattsson's back instead.

The fighters are battling for position here. Mattsson manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Mattsson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Uzala can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Uzala is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Uzala uses his free foot to push down on Mattsson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Mattsson.

Mattsson slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Dersu Uzala will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Uzala counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Uzala wants to control from the top but Mattsson keeps moving.

Mattsson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Uzala working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Uzala accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Uzala is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Uzala extends the arm and Mattsson is forced to tap!
