PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Eli Dorado (ranked 25318 p4p, 677 weight class) and Anthony McGregor (ranked 7638 p4p, 616 weight class). Anthony McGregor will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anthony McGregor!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Albert Achterberg and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dorado looking to score a takedown here. McGregor is defending well but Dorado drives through and ends up in McGregor's guard.
Dorado's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Dorado won't allow McGregor to get back to his feet.
Dorado is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Dorado keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of McGregor's head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dorado accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

McGregor shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dorado as he avoids it easily.
McGregor wants to clinch up but Dorado keeps it at a distance.
Dorado avoids the head kick by McGregor.
Dorado misses with a hook. McGregor ducked under it nicely.
McGregor is looking to clinch but Dorado is avoiding it.

McGregor fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Dorado, pushing him back against the cage.
McGregor misses with an elbow strike.

It looks like Eli Dorado has been cut.
McGregor is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

McGregor escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
McGregor throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Dorado throws a right and a left that McGregor avoids nicely.

and Dorado counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Dorado.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dorado is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Dorado's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Dorado closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. McGregor did well to prevent Dorado getting side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dorado looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks McGregor with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
McGregor is trying to control but Dorado passes into side control!

McGregor on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
A lull in the action here as Dorado stalls from top position.

McGregor tries to buck Dorado off but Dorado is having none of it.

McGregor pushes Dorado away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Dorado gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
McGregor is looking for a sweep.
McGregor takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Dorado slows the pace down.
Anthony McGregor has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Eli Dorado is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Dorado cracks McGregor with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dorado, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
