PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tong Man Chung (ranked 2955 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miguel Perez (ranked 23979 p4p, 0 weight class). Miguel Perez told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tong Man Chung!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Miguel Perez!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Russell Pearce and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perez goes for a double leg but Chung avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Chung continues to drive forward.
Chung looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Perez misses with a takedown attempt - Chung sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Perez doesn't manage to clinch there - Chung circles away.

Chung stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Chung wants it to stay on the feet.

Perez tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Chung just stands there and leans against the cage.
Perez changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Chung fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Perez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Chung as he jumps to the side.
Perez blocks a head kick by Chung.

Perez closes the distance and pushes Chung back into the cage.
Perez goes for a takedown attempt but Chung pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Perez moves into the clinch successfully.
Perez tries to pull guard but Chung forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Perez jumps guard but Chung stands there with Perez around his waist. Perez gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Perez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

A frustrated look appears on Chung's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Perez tries to pull guard but Chung won't allow it.

Perez shoots in for a takedown but Chung shows good takedown defense.
A quick step to the side and Chung tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Chung is trying to stick to Perez's back but Perez is turning into Chung. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Chung's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Perez.
Perez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chung. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Perez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Chung wants to stand and escape but Perez is having none of it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Chung takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Perez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Chung tries to avoid it but Perez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Chung to the ground. Chung escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Chung throws a head kick but Perez moves out of range.

Perez clinches with his opponent.
Chung wants to break free but Perez has control.
Perez misses with a hook to the ribs.

Perez's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Chung will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Perez throws a body shot but no joy.

Perez moves into the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Miguel Perez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Perez has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
