Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dennis Rader (ranked 1959 p4p, 209 weight class) and Gilbervan Soares (ranked 2558 p4p, 259 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dennis Rader!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gilbervan Soares!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soares moves out of range of the strikes.
Soares is looking for the big counter here.
Soares throws an off balance right hand
and Rader counters with a straight right hand.
Rader looks to land a left hand but Soares moved out of range nicely.
Soares moves out of range as Rader strikes.

Soares looking to score a takedown here. Rader is defending well but Soares drives through and ends up in Rader's guard.
Soares tries to free his leg and advance position but Rader is retaining full guard.
Rader is trying to keep Soares in close.
Rader can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Soares controls the pace.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rader really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Soares working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rader moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Rader looking for a guillotine here but Soares defends easily.
Soares postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Soares trying to control the position from guard on top but Rader is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Soares is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Soares's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Soares got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rader has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Soares has managed to get both his arms back between Rader's legs - danger averted.

Rader is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Soares lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Soares stands up over Rader, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Rader will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rader can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Soares controls the pace.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Soares moves forwards but Rader connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Soares swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Rader looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Rader takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Rader scores with a hook to the body. Soares takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Soares looks to land a right hand but Rader moved out of range.
Rader thuds his right hand into Soares's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Soares moves in looking to clinch but Rader pushes him off.
A slow jab from Soares misses its intended target.

Rader throws a looping overhand right but Soares ducks down to avoid it.

Soares walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Soares forces Rader back against the cage and clinches.

Rader misses with a body punch.
Soares working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Soares is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Soares lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Rader is trying to maintain the position but Soares is very close to passing his half guard.
Soares slips a nice elbow through Rader's hands, connecting with Rader's forehead.
Soares seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rader is in trouble now - Soares has advanced to mount!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Soares lands a big elbow.
Rader is looking to improve his position but Soares isn't that keen on the idea.
Soares avoids the attempt from Rader to control.
Rader is trying desperately to improve position.
Soares lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Rader tries to hold on but Soares pushes him away.
Rader is desperately trying to improve his position but Soares has a good base and remains in mount.

Soares raining down shots from the mount!
Soares looking to control but Rader is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Rader tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Soares with the ground and pound from mount.
Soares takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Rader can't escape the position.
Soares controlling from mount.
Soares wants to control the pace but Rader is squirming around nicely.

Soares lands with some strikes.
Soares lands a couple of good shots and Rader has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Soares has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Soares controlling from the back.
Rader trying to control the hands but Soares won't let him.
Soares is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Let's hope that Soares has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gilbervan Soares showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Rader throws a right and a left that both miss.
Rader scores with a decent looking hook.
Soares swings for the body but Rader moves out of range.
Rader goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Rader is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Nice defenses there by Rader.

Rader throws a jab but it's blocked by Soares.
Soares appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

Rader gets caught flat footed, as Soares shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Soares makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Soares showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Soares wants to control from the top but Rader keeps moving.

Rader had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Soares defends it easily.
Soares slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Rader is looking to control Soares's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Rader avoid being mounted?

Rader is looking for a sweep. Soares is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
