Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
12 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Greenwood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Goji Kano!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, David Schapiro and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kano shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Greenwood as he avoids it easily.
Kano tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Greenwood swivels and escapes.
Kano manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Greenwood on his heels. He'll look to pass Greenwood's guard now, I'm sure.
Kano won't allow Greenwood to get back to his feet.
Kano drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kano jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Kano drops back looking for a leg! Greenwood is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Greenwood manages to kick Kano off! Kano jumps back into Greenwood's guard.
Kano postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Greenwood is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kano, into his guard.
Kano looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Greenwood has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kano is proving hard to escape from.
Kano is working an open guard so Greenwood takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
A slapping leg kick lands for Greenwood.
Nice sprawl there from Greenwood as Kano shoots in.
Michael Greenwood has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Goji Kano.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Greenwood knocks Kano to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?
Kano is rocked!
It looks like Goji Kano has been cut.
Greenwood decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Kano is still on wobbly legs! Can Greenwood finish him?
Greenwood feints a jab and as Kano dips his head, Greenwood unleashes a brutal head kick that catches Kano right on the jaw! Timbeeer! Kano falls backwards in slow motion, only propped up by the cage! Greenwood smiles a psychotic smile as he stares down his unconscious opponent. That is a scary man.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Michael Greenwood!
