Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Roy Peterson (ranked 4374 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Brunson (ranked 4418 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Roy Peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, James Brunson!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Brunson.

Peterson throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Peterson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Brunson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Peterson tries to buck Brunson off but Brunson is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Peterson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Brunson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Peterson is in a horrible position here. Brunson smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Brunson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Brunson just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Brunson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Peterson defends well.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Peterson is looking to stand back up but Brunson counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Peterson.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Brunson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Peterson quickly recovers to half guard.
Peterson tries to kick Brunson off in order to stand up. Brunson Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Brunson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Peterson is looking to regain half guard here but Brunson keeps moving and retains side control.
James Brunson has got the better of the ground game so far.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Brunson lands a nice short elbow.

Peterson is doing well to control the position and prevent Brunson from advancing to side control.

Peterson is pressing down on Brunson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Brunson stands up over Peterson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Peterson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Brunson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Peterson sprawls well initially but Brunson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Brunson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Brunson has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Peterson's body.

Let's hope that Brunson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

James Brunson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Brunson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
