The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Andrew Berry and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Busch cracks Pelican with a right hand to the side of the head.

Pelican scores with a takedown into Busch's guard.
Pelican loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Busch has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Pelican has passed into side control.

Pelican is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Busch has escaped the position, nice work there.

Pelican is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Busch knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Busch is looking to regain half guard here but Pelican keeps moving and retains side control.
Busch on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Busch tries to get out of the position.

Pelican is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Busch has escaped the position, nice work there.

Pelican thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Busch explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Busch throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pelican .
Pelican takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Pelican walks into a straight right hand from Busch.
Simon Busch is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Pelican blocks a jab.
Pelican takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Busch connects with a looping right hand.
Pelican throws a leg kick that is checked
and Busch counters with a lovely straight right hand!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A nice combination there by Busch.


It looks like Steven Pelican has been cut.
Busch lands with an overhand left.
Pelican takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
It looks like Busch has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Busch scores with a jab.
Pelican looks to land a combination but Busch avoids it well.
Busch cracks Pelican with a good jab.
Busch circles away from the clinch attempt.
Busch cracks Pelican with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Busch leaves Pelican with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Pelican walks into a stiff left hand from Busch.
Decent striking displayed by Busch there.
Pelican takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Busch connects with a body shot that sends Pelican 's belly button to the back.
Busch is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Pelican 's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Busch connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Pelican scrambles back to his feet.

Pelican throws an off balance right hand
and Busch cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Pelican is still on wobbly legs! Can Busch finish him?
Busch connects with a combination that backs up Pelican into the cage. Busch lands a flurry of punches that gets past Pelican 's guard. Pelican is down and the referee has seen enough. It is all over! Busch bursts into tears - this win obviously means a huge amount to him.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Simon Busch!
Simon Busch is the new lightweight champion!
Simon Busch really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Threads of HARDCORE logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
