Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Robert Grandis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brian Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Glass and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
An attempted straight right counter from Grandis misses the target.
Grandis fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Johnson on the side of the head.
Johnson misses with a takedown attempt - Grandis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Grandis is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Johnson closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Grandis's guard.
Grandis has control of Johnson's left arm, preventing Johnson from doing any damage.
Johnson throws an elbow that misses. Grandis uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Johnson's guard. Nice move by Grandis!

Johnson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Grandis's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Johnson lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Johnson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Johnson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Johnson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Johnson throws a big right hand that misses.
My spies in Death Valley Training Facility inform me that Johnson has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Grandis wants to sweep here but Johnson controlling him for the moment.
Grandis looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Johnson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Grandis works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Grandis pulls Johnson in close to prevent any damage.
Johnson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Johnson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Grandis looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Johnson, right into the meat.
Grandis throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Grandis throws out a powerful jab.
Johnson throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
A big left from Johnson misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Johnson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Grandis lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Grandis ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Johnson looks to land a body kick but Grandis moved away.
Johnson loads up on a big right hand but Grandis slips the punch.
Grandis throws a body punch but Johnson moves out of range.
Grandis darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Johnson throws a leg kick
and Johnson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Grandis scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Johnson doesn't seem bothered though.
Grandis is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Grandis throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Grandis tries to close the distance and clinch but Johnson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Johnson looks to throw a body kick
and Grandis counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Grandis tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Johnson was well out of range. Poor timing from Grandis.
Grandis drops Johnson with a naaaaasty hook - Johnson is in real trouble here! Grandis dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Robert Grandis!
