PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dar Jee (ranked 24380 p4p, 321 weight class) and Grigori Perelman (ranked 24667 p4p, 310 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Jee might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Everybody Knows My Name. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dar Jee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Grigori Perelman!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perelman shoots in for a double leg but Jee sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Perelman is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Jee gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Perelman to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Jee has his foot on Perelman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Perelman works his way back into a safe position though.

Jee had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Perelman defends it easily.

Jee wants to get back to full guard.

Perelman is looking for a kimura but Jee is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Perelman to get the leverage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jee pulls Perelman in close to prevent any damage.
Jee is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Jee moves into full mount! Perelman won't be happy about that!

Jee has control of Perelman's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Perelman regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Jee goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Perelman is on top in guard.

Jee bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Perelman's guard.

Jee forces his way into half guard.

Jee is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Perelman defends it well.
Jee is thwarting Perelman's attempts to control the position.
Jee is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Jee is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jee seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Jee is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Jee tries to pass to full mount but Perelman defends it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jee content to control rather than advance.
Jee continues to stall.

Jee is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Perelman doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jee.
Jee slows the pace down in half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jee wants to pass to mount but Perelman is defending the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dar Jee dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Perelman shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jee appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Perelman shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jee sprawls well. Jee wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Perelman gets slowly back to his feet.

Jee takes the fight into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jee lands with a short shot to the head.
Jee lands with a right to the head.
Perelman is trying to drag Jee to the mat but Jee just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Dar Jee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Grigori Perelman.
Jee lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Jee stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Nice body punch from Jee.
Perelman goes for a takedown attempt but Jee pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Jee gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Perelman drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Jee cracks Perelman with a nice body shot.
Jee gets through Perelman's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.


Perelman is rocked!

Jee throws a punch but it's blocked by Perelman.
Perelman is still on wobbly legs! Can Jee finish him?

Jee lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Perelman to his knees! Jee keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:13 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dar Jee!
During a confident post fight interview, Dar Jee thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
