PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jamse Jordon (ranked 7178 p4p, 503 weight class) and Mario Santana (ranked 23152 p4p, 548 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jamse Jordon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mario Santana!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Chris Edwards and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santana fails with a takedown attempt.
Santana slaps away a takedown attempt from Jordon, before circling back to the center of the mat.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Jordon enables Santana to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jordon manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Santana won't allow Jordon to get back to his feet.
Jordon is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Jordon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Santana doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Santana manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jordon wants to sweep but no luck.

Santana's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Santana looks winded!
Jordon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Santana closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jordon circles away.
Santana closes the distance and clinches up with Jordon, looking for a takedown. Santana pushes Jordon against the cage but Jordon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Jamse Jordon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mario Santana.
Santana keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Jordon drives through and clinches with Santana against the cage.
Santana told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.

Santana is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Jordon is defending well.

Jordon gets control of Santana's arms and successfully pulls guard. Jordon will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Santana slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Santana wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jordon keeps working.
Jordon is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Santana off and has taken his back!

Jordon looking to break Santana's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Santana remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Jordon will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jordon is throwing strikes but Santana counters by rolling into a better position. After a scramble, Santana regains half guard.
Santana avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Jordon.
Santana keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jordon wants to control but Santana is keeping him busy.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jordon not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Jordon is looking to advance position but Santana won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Jordon lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Jordon went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Santana tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Santana looks for a takedown but Jordon sprawls well.
Jordon looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Santana throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jordon's waist but Jordon gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Santana off to one side.
Santana on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Jordon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Santana tries to avoid it but Jordon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Santana to the ground. Santana escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Santana tries to keep at a distance but Jordon has taken the fight into the clinch.
Santana is looking to take this one to the mat.
Jordon gets underhooks to prevent Santana's takedown attempt.

Jordon drags the fight down to the ground.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jordon is on top in guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Jordon stands and steps away. Santana gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Jordon definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Jordon tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Santana swivels and escapes.

Santana bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Santana wants to control but Jordon is keeping him busy.

Santana tries for a kimura but Jordon is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jordon drives through and clinches with Santana against the cage.
Jordon has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Santana avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Jordon's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Santana looks for a takedown but Jordon sprawls well.
Jordon scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Jordon throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

so Santana counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Jamse Jordon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Jordon keeping moving, preventing Santana from controlling successfully.
Jordon looking for a sweep. Not yet Jordon, not yet.

Santana is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jordon trying to control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Santana fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Jordon shoots for a double leg takedown but Santana sprawls well. He's pushed Jordon's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jamse Jordon. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Santana darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Jordon is looking to get back to is feet but Santana passes into side control.
Jordon is looking to regain half guard here but Santana keeps moving and retains side control.

Santana thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Santana wants to control but Jordon is keeping him busy.
Mario Santana has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Mario Santana comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Jordon has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
