The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carter closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
McGee is trying to break the clinch but Carter has him pressed against the cage.
McGee tries for a takedown but Carter manages to get underhooks.
McGee is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Carter as McGee tries to tie him up.

McGee pulls guard successfully.
McGee avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as McGee holds on and takes a little breather.
Carter wants to stand but McGee is controlling his posture from full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McGee looks to land a combination but Carter avoids it well.

Carter gets underhooks to prevent McGee's takedown attempt.
McGee jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Carter walks away with a smile on his face. McGee gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

McGee tries to clinch but Carter is having none of it.
Carter lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
McGee shoots for a takedown but Carter saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
McGee dives in and grabs Carter's left leg, looking for a takedown. Carter pushes down on McGee's head and hops out.
Carter scores with a kick to the midsection.
McGee is breathing heavily.

Carter darts in and clinches McGee up against the cage.

Carter's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
McGee tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Carter paws at him with a jab and circles away.

A hook to the body from Carter.
Carter lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Carter jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as McGee walks away with a smile on his face. Carter gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
McGee shoots and misses
and Carter counters with a stiff right hand.
Carter throws a head kick that half lands.
McGee tries to score a power double leg takedown but Carter sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten McGee somewhat.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Carter closes the distance and clinches.
Carter lands a nice knee to the body.
Carter jumps guard but McGee turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

McGee tries to circle away but Carter has him pinned against the cage.
Carter is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but McGee is defending well.

Carter breaks from the clinch.
Carter lands a head kick!
Carter swats away the attempt to clinch by McGee.
Carter tries a head kick but it misses.

McGee swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

McGee tries to keep at a distance but Carter has taken the fight into the clinch.
McGee tries to pull guard but Carter forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Carter unloads a knee to the mid-section. McGee lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Carter has McGee pushed against the cage.
Carter landing knees to the body.
McGee prevents a takedown attempt there.

Carter's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McGee looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Carter drives through and clinches with McGee against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

AJ Carter dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Carter wants to clinch.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
McGee is trying hard to land a takedown here. Carter sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Carter has managed to clinch.

Carter escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
McGee tries to close the distance and clinch but Carter swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Carter prevents a body shot from McGee.
McGee really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Carter has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed McGee clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

McGee is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Carter off. It looks like it's working - Carter slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! McGee displaying calm under pressure there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
McGee tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Carter defends well and McGee ends up having to push Carter into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
McGee will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

McGee wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Carter has him pressed against the cage.
Carter effectively controlling the action here.

Carter has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

McGee shoots in and bounces Carter off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Carter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McGee. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Carter avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Carter is looking to stand up but McGee isn't so interested in that idea.

McGee stands and steps away. Carter gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Carter stuffs the takedown.
Carter circles away from the clinch attempt.
Carter flicks out a counter leg kick but McGee steps away.
Carter is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
McGee is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Carter.
Carter slaps away a takedown attempt from McGee, before circling back to the center of the mat.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Carter gets a clinch.
McGee is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
McGee tries to break the clinch but Carter is controlling the position.

AJ Carter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

McGee gets through Carter's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

and Carter counters with a left and a right that stings McGee.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

McGee jumps guard but Carter turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Carter manages to break the clinch.
McGee shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Carter as he avoids it easily.

Carter goes for a takedown attempt but McGee pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Carter goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Carter rushes McGee and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Carter keeps the fight in the clinch, despite McGee's efforts to push away.

Carter tries to bum rush McGee with a series of wild strikes but McGee uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
AJ Carter seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Carter tests McGee's chin there with a solid looking shot.

McGee jumps guard and drags Carter to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
AJ Carter is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McGee looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Carter is looking to stand up but McGee won't let him.
McGee wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Carter would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
