PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Goran Silic (ranked 5120 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jax Teller (ranked 4401 p4p, 439 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Goran Silic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jax Teller!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Aafke Stam and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silic tries to clinch up but Teller circles away and keeps his distance.
Teller wants to clinch up but Silic keeps it at a distance.
A nice inside leg kick there by Teller. That's going to slow Silic down.
Teller lands with a thumping leg kick.
Teller misses with a two punch combination.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Teller.
Teller throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Silic shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Teller as he avoids it easily.
Teller thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Silic if he has to take too many more of those.

Teller gets off balance looking for a body kick

and Silic counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Silic trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Silic engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Silic seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Teller for as long as he can get away with.
Silic prevents Teller from getting back to his feet.
Silic working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Silic throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Teller works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Teller swats away the attempt to clinch by Silic.
Silic really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Teller fails in his attempt to clinch.
Silic tries to counter by clinching up but Teller breaks away and moves out of range.
Teller throws a body kick despite being completely out of range

and Silic counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Silic is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Silic missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Silic is taking a breather. Teller says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Silic decides to stand up.
Teller throws a sloppy head kick

so Silic counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Teller looks winded!
Silic seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Silic trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Silic decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Teller, up you get!
Silic throws a right and a left that Teller avoids nicely.
Teller is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Silic closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Silic sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Teller defending well though.
Silic perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Silic stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Teller to get to his feet.
Teller stuffs the takedown.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Silic misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Goran Silic dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Teller on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Teller ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Teller tries to close the distance and clinch up but Silic swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Teller throws a head kick that Silic semi-blocks.


It looks like Goran Silic has been cut.
Teller is looking to clinch.
Silic shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Teller as he jumps to the side.
Jax Teller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Silic counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Silic gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Teller throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Teller is breathing heavily.
Silic on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Teller. Teller obviously looking to wear him down.
Silic swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Teller connects with a high kick.
Silic avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Teller on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Silic has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Teller.
Teller fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Silic.
Teller does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Silic throws a big counter combination but Teller scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Silic closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Teller to the mat! Teller manages to get full guard.

Teller uses the cage to get back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Teller closes the distance looking to clinch

and Silic counters with a single leg into guard. Teller didn't expect that.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Teller can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Silic controls the pace.

Silic gets to his feet - Teller follows without any prompting.

Silic instigates a clinch.
Teller looking to stall.
Silic is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Silic jumps guard but Teller turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Teller keeps control of Silic as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
The referee is keeping an eye on Silic - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Teller tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Teller taking a breather.
Teller utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.

Silic is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Teller can't fight it off and eventually Silic manages to take the fight to the floor. Teller looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Teller pushes Silic off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Teller throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Silic wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Teller, as that shot connected.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Silic shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Teller as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Goran Silic. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Teller goes for a double leg but Silic avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Silic continues to drive forward.
Teller throws a sloppy head kick and Silic moves out of range easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Silic misses with a two punch combination.
Silic lands a nice leg kick that just misses Teller's sensitive parts.
Silic throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Silic will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Silic counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Teller!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jax Teller will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The cut man is working on Goran Silic's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Teller looks to throw a body kick

and Silic decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Teller's guard.
Teller keeping moving, preventing Silic from controlling successfully.
Teller wants to stand up but Silic is controlling him.

Silic gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Silic closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Teller is looking to escape.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Ground and pound from Silic.

Silic trying to control the pace.
Silic throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Silic missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Silic passes to full mount!
Silic takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Silic has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Silic controlling his opponent.
Teller in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silic sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Teller takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Silic is working for a guillotine from mount but Teller frees his head quite easily.

Silic connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Goran Silic overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Teller is bucking up trying to escape but Silic cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

And that's the end of the fight!
Goran Silic showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Silic has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
