PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mike Robertson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joshua Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Robertson comes into the arena with 50 Cent - I get Money blaring out of the sound system. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Joshua Thomas was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joshua Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Eliza Hachem and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robertson fails in his attempt to clinch.

It looks like Mike Robertson has been cut.
Robertson dodges the punch combination from Thomas.
Thomas misses with a jab, cross combination.
Thomas paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Thomas throws a leg kick but Robertson sees it coming and moves out of range.

Robertson has closed the distance and engaged Thomas in a clinch.
Thomas is trying to break the clinch but Robertson has him pressed against the cage.

Robertson is keen to just control but Thomas is a slippery customer.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Robertson connects with a nice short shot to Thomas's temple.
Thomas is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Thomas is trying to stand up here but Robertson is controlling him well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mike Robertson will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Thomas throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Thomas wants to stand and escape but Robertson is having none of it.
Thomas is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

You can see the frustration on Thomas's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Robertson is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Thomas will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Mike Robertson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mike Robertson showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Robertson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
