Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Appley shoots in and gets a takedown into Smith's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Appley is in close to Smith's body, working some short punches and elbows.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Smith is on top in guard.
Smith tries to stand but Appley is controlling from the bottom.
Appley is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Appley is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Appley is figuring out what he wants to do next.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Appley lands with a punch from half guard.
Appley is taking a breather. Smith says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Appley working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Appley lands a nice short elbow.

Appley prevents Smith from improving his position.
Smith is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Appley scores with a couple of nice shots.

Appley tries to pass the half guard into mount. Smith knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Appley seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Appley is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Appley is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Smith pushes Appley off looking to stand but Appley dives back in and keeps control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Appley maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Smith could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Appley has cracked it and Smith is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Appley!
