Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alex Coranin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Brunson!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Russell Pearce and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brunson throws a lazy head kick

and Coranin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Brunson won't be happy with that.
Coranin lands a nice forearm strike.
Coranin works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Coranin goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Brunson rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Coranin's guard! Nice work there by Brunson!
Brunson wants to stand but Coranin is controlling his posture from full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brunson wants to control from the top but Coranin keeps moving.

Brunson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Coranin manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Brunson has Coranin in his guard.

Coranin is stalling in the full guard.

Brunson looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Coranin passes into side control.

Coranin goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Brunson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Coranin but great work by Brunson.

Brunson tries to advance to mount but Coranin denies him.

Brunson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Coranin, who protects the arm well.
Coranin manages to work his way to half guard, despite Brunson's best efforts.

Coranin is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Brunson pulls his head out easily.

Brunson swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Brunson tries to clinch up but Coranin circles away and keeps his distance.

Brunson darts in and clinches Coranin up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brunson keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Coranin's efforts to push away.

Brunson sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Coranin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Brunson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Coranin is looking to work some ground and pound but Brunson has wrist control.
Coranin distracts Brunson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Brunson can't keep his opponent in guard - Coranin advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Brunson tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Coranin counters with a single leg into guard. Brunson didn't expect that.

Brunson is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Brunson jumps guard and drags Coranin to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
