Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Liam McKnight (ranked 3843 p4p, 424 weight class) and Joel Mirao (ranked 25393 p4p, 649 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Liam McKnight!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joel Mirao!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Paul Gruel and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McKnight misses with a head kick.
Nice sprawl there from McKnight as Mirao shoots in.
McKnight seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

McKnight fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mirao sprawls well initially but McKnight persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Mirao is trying to get back to full guard.

McKnight stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Mirao to get to his feet.
Mirao throws a nice head kick!
McKnight throws a sloppy head kick
and Mirao counters with a head kick.
Mirao takes a kick to the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
McKnight closes the distance and clinches up with Mirao, looking for a takedown. McKnight pushes Mirao against the cage but Mirao circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mirao moves in looking to clinch but McKnight pushes him off.
McKnight will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mirao takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McKnight tries a head kick but it misses.
McKnight throws a head kick but Mirao moves out of range.
Mirao tries to counter by closing the distance.
McKnight stuffs the takedown attempt from Mirao. Mirao gets slowly back to his feet.
McKnight stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and McKnight wants it to stay on the feet.
Liam McKnight has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joel Mirao.
A head kick misses from Mirao.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Mirao crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from McKnight - the referee stops the clock and Mirao gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says McKnight. Mirao manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

McKnight drives through and clinches with Mirao against the cage.
McKnight lands a right hand.

McKnight's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
McKnight misses with a head kick.
Mirao falls off balance throwing a combination
and McKnight counters with a two punch combo.


Mirao is rocked!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A nice inside leg kick there by McKnight. That's going to slow Mirao down.
Mirao is still on wobbly legs! Can McKnight finish him?
McKnight looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McKnight stuffs the takedown.
Mirao seems to have recovered his senses.
Mirao misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Mirao looks winded!
McKnight lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Excellent takedown into side control there by McKnight.
McKnight moves into full mount!
McKnight lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Mirao felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McKnight scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Mirao?
McKnight controlling from the full mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McKnight seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mirao for as long as he can get away with.
Mirao working to try and regain half guard.
McKnight tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
McKnight has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
McKnight with shots to the head and body - Mirao looks very uncomfortable down there.

McKnight working for a submission but Mirao is keeping him at bay.
McKnight tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Mirao wants to hold on but McKnight pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Liam McKnight dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


McKnight lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

McKnight closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Mirao looking to stall.
McKnight blocks a body shot from Mirao.
Mirao has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. McKnight avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Mirao lands with a light punch inside.
A nice right hand lands inside from McKnight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mirao is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables McKnight to keep the fight standing.
Mirao jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as McKnight walks away with a smile on his face. Mirao gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Liam McKnight has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joel Mirao.
Mirao shoots in for a takedown but McKnight shows good takedown defense.
McKnight misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Mirao unleashes a big counter combination but McKnight bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
A slapping leg kick lands for McKnight.
Liam McKnight seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The fighters circle, before McKnight throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Mirao's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! McKnight lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:09 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick & Punches). Liam McKnight!
Liam McKnight gave a mention to Ma Balls Is Hot Clothing in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
