The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the liver by Gonclaves. Beautiful body shot.
Thomson avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
A counter left hand to the body from Thomson misses its target.
Gonclaves works Thomson's body with a nice hook.

Thomson closes the distance and pushes Gonclaves back into the cage.
We've been hearing reports that Thomson has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Gonclaves throws a series of punches but Thomson avoids them all with ease.

Thomson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Gonclaves wants to pass to mount but Thomson is defending the position.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Thomson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gonclaves's waist but Gonclaves gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Thomson off to one side.
