The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Sosuke Kotani and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Field shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hammer pinned against the cage. Hammer gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Hammer steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Field.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Field enables Hammer to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Field manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Hammer controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Hammer is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hammer has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Field has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Hammer is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Field.

Field takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Field takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Field is breathing heavily.

Hammer lands a nice forearm strike.
Hammer works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Hammer is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Field is trying to escape and Hammer transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Field is forced to tap! Nice work there by Hammer! Very nice indeed!
