Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between James White (ranked 5130 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Ciro (ranked 7105 p4p, 0 weight class). Ciro has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! James White has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, James White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Ciro!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Anthony Taglia and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ciro looks winded!
Nice defenses there by Ciro.
Ciro takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
White with a body punch. A glancing blow.
White paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

White jumps guard and drags Ciro to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
White is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
White's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

White pushes Ciro off and gets back to his feet.

White fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
White dives in and grabs Ciro's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ciro pushes down on White's head and hops out.
White throws a series of punches but Ciro avoids them all with ease.
White throws a looping overhand right but Ciro ducks down to avoid it.
White lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

White feints and as Ciro raises his hands in defense, White changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
White distracts Ciro with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
White content to stall in guard here.

White seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ciro for as long as he can get away with.
White forces his way into half guard.
White performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

White looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ciro with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Jay Ciro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A slapping body kick lands there for White.

White shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

White looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
White lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

White stands up from half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
White fails with a takedown attempt.
Ciro has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James White. That's going to take a lot out of him.
White shoots for a double leg takedown but Ciro sprawls well. He's pushed White's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


White misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ciro let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
White is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ciro can do to turn this around?

White moves into the clinch successfully.
White wants a takedown but no success here.
White prevents Ciro from breaking the clinch.
Ciro prevents the takedown attempt.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
White misses with a shot to the kidneys.

White wants to take the fight to the mat but Ciro manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
White is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Ciro pulls him back up using the underhooks.

White pulls Ciro into guard.

White has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Ciro is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
White goes for a takedown attempt but Ciro pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

White lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Ciro on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
White scores with a jab to the body.

White looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
White with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ciro can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ciro is in trouble now - White has advanced to mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
White content just to control the position here.
White lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
White looking to control and managing it successfully.
White is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Ciro can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
White controlling from the full mount.
Ciro is in a horrible position here. White smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James White dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


White throws a head kick that Ciro semi-blocks.

White moves into the clinch.
White can't get the takedown.

White has picked Ciro up - he's going for a ride! White dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with White in particular looking to stall.
White uses his free foot to push down on Ciro's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ciro.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

White gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Ciro takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

White forces Ciro back against the cage and clinches.

White jumps guard.
White seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Ciro has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing White to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Ciro is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - White pulls down on the head and he's put Ciro to sleep! This one is all over!
