Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Leon Johnson (ranked 6680 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mate Kertezs (ranked 4510 p4p, 0 weight class). Kertezs has chosen ZAYDE WOLF - BORN READY as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Leon Johnson has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Leon Johnson seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mate Kertezs!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Atkins and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kertezs swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Johnson counters with a leg kick.
Johnson tries to move into range but Kertezs moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Kertezs misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Johnson counters with a series of strikes. Kertezs will be more careful next time no doubt.
Johnson avoids the body shot from Kertezs.
Kertezs fails in his attempt to clinch.
Johnson is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Kertezs.
Johnson tries for a takedown but Kertezs circles away easily
and Kertezs counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kertezs.

Mate Kertezs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kertezs connects with a nice looking jab.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Johnson is defended easily by Kertezs.

Kertezs fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kertezs scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Kertezs pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Kertezs misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Johnson.
Kertezs shoots in looking for a takedown. Johnson tries to sprawl out of it but Kertezs keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Johnson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Kertezs is trying to break free.
Johnson is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Kertezs gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Johnson swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Johnson tries to pull guard but Kertezs won't allow it.

Kertezs is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Johnson rather than just go for the knockout.

Nice takedown defense from Kertezs. No joy for Johnson on that attempt.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

No luck for Kertezs with that takedown attempt.
Johnson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kertezs avoids it really well and circles away.
Kertezs scores with a nice head shot.
Kertezs attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Johnson shoots in looking for a takedown but Kertezs manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Johnson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kertezs as he avoids it easily.
Kertezs swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Johnson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Kertezs defends well and Johnson ends up having to push Kertezs into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Kertezs swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Johnson.
Kertezs throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Johnson stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Johnson takes one on the button.
Kertezs lands an overhand right.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kertezs misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kertezs tries to bum rush Johnson with a series of wild strikes but Johnson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Johnson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Johnson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kertezs does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Johnson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mate Kertezs dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Johnson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Kertezs to the ground. Johnson is now in Kertezs's guard.
Johnson tries to free his leg and advance position but Kertezs is retaining full guard.
Kertezs looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Johnson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Johnson works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Johnson decides to return to a standing position.
Kertezs thows a left - swing and a miss!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kertezs manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Kertezs misses with a straight left.
Johnson ducks under a wild hook from Kertezs.
Kertezs is breathing heavily.
Johnson throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Kertezs moves in looking to clinch but Johnson pushes him off.
It looked like Johnson was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Johnson moves into range and clinches up with Kertezs.
Johnson prevents Kertezs from breaking the clinch.
Kertezs wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Johnson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kertezs smiles and moves away.
Johnson lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Johnson avoids the body shot from Kertezs.

Johnson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Johnson decides to stand up.

Johnson fails with the takedown.
Johnson drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Kertezs moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Johnson takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johnson is really struggling to control Kertezs but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Johnson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kertezs is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Johnson darts in looking for a takedown but Kertezs gets double underhooks and turns Johnson into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leon Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Johnson takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Johnson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kertezs swivels and escapes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Leon Johnson will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Johnson looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Kertezs ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Johnson moves away.

Johnson takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Kertezs looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Johnson is fending him off so far but Kertezs persists. Nope, Johnson circles away and we're back to standing.

Kertezs lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kertezs sprawls well. Kertezs wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet.

Mate Kertezs comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Kertezs has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
