PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rudy Zabel (ranked 3561 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladimir Svyatogor (ranked 4623 p4p, 0 weight class). Zabel is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Svyatogor instigates a clinch.
Zabel is breathing heavily.

Svyatogor has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Zabel uses from the top position.

Svyatogor wants to sweep here but Zabel controlling him for the moment.
Svyatogor is pulling down on Zabel's head. It's preventing any offense from Zabel, at least for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zabel won't allow Svyatogor to get back to his feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Svyatogor rushes Zabel and presses him up against the cage.
Zabel is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Svyatogor is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Svyatogor tries to pull guard but Zabel won't allow it.
Zabel looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

A nice glancing elbow lands by Svyatogor.
Svyatogor jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Zabel walks away with a smile on his face. Svyatogor gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Rudy Zabel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vladimir Svyatogor.

Svyatogor gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Svyatogor's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Svyatogor comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Svyatogor closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Zabel out cold! Zabel corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.
