PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Minoru Suzuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julian Amici (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Amici has chosen Bad Company as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Minoru Suzuki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Julian Amici!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Kenichi Hosakawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Amici tries to clinch up.

Amici drives through and clinches with Suzuki against the cage.

Amici shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Suzuki pinned against the cage. Suzuki gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Suzuki looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Amici has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Suzuki is working away from the top position though.
Amici is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Suzuki drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Suzuki jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Suzuki fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Amici manages to avoid it.
Amici throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Amici is fighting off a takedown attempt but Suzuki is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Amici to the mat. Amici regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Suzuki is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Suzuki slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Amici controls Suzuki momentarily but Suzuki frees himself.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Suzuki's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Suzuki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Amici swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Amici not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Amici might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Suzuki kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Amici had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Suzuki is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Amici Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Suzuki's back instead.

Suzuki is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Amici is riding his opponent, not letting Suzuki buck him off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Amici looks to land a body kick but Suzuki moved away.

and Suzuki counters with a nice double leg into side control. Amici won't be happy with that.

Suzuki tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Suzuki has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Suzuki is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Amici knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Amici shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Suzuki's guard.
Suzuki has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Suzuki is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Amici can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Suzuki is working to tighten is grip on Amici's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Amici has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Suzuki is really squeezing tight and eventually Amici passes out! Suzuki breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
