Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Randall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Derick Muise!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Randall with a lazy takedown attempt
and Muise counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


It looks like James Randall has been cut.

Randall drives through with a takedown into Muise's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Randall throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Randall could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Muise tries to escape but Randall is in control.
Muise defending against the ground and pound.
Muise avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Randall.
Randall throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Muise can do anything to dispel that myth.
Muise is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Randall has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Randall trying to control the position but Muise is working away.

Randall tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Randall has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Randall tries for a kimura but Muise is defending well.
Muise really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Randall. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Randall looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Randall is breathing heavily.
Randall prevents Muise from escaping the position.
Muise is not content to let Randall control the position.
Muise wants to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Randall is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Muise knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Muise is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Muise is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Muise gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Randall to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Muise wants to stand but Randall is controlling the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Randall accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Randall trying to control but Muise is working from the bottom.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Muise keeping moving, preventing Randall from controlling successfully.

Randall drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Randall jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Nice body punch from Muise.
Randall moves out of range of the strikes.
Muise scores with a shot to the body.
Muise closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Randall out cold! Randall corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Derick Muise!
