Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alexandros Nicolaou (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Koks Fajter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Koks Fajter is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fajter shoots in looking for a takedown. Nicolaou tries to sprawl out of it but Fajter keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nicolaou manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Fajter looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Nicolaou is fending him off so far but Fajter persists. Nope, Nicolaou circles away and we're back to standing.
Nicolaou fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Fajter bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Nicolaou is trying to control Fajter's posture but Fajter avoids it.
Nicolaou is letting Fajter control him for a moment.
Nicolaou is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Fajter seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nicolaou does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Nicolaou escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fajter gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Fajter closes the distance and clinches.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Nicolaou has picked Fajter up - he's going for a ride! Nicolaou dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Nicolaou is keen to just control but Fajter is a slippery customer.
Fajter has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nicolaou is working away from the top position though.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Fajter is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Nicolaou knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Fajter with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Nicolaou to score with a decent uppercut.
Fajter takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Fajter will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Nicolaou rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Fajter moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Good leg kick by Nicolaou there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Nicolaou throws a hook to the side of Fajter's head but Fajter sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Nicolaou looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

and Nicolaou counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nicolaou stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fajter swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well Nicolaou has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
