Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chael Gunn (ranked 4540 p4p, 399 weight class) and Ramon Deker (ranked 3525 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ramon Deker was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Deker swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Gunn counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Deker!

Deker can't do much from the bottom here.
Gunn throws an elbow but Deker slips to the side and avoids it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Deker thuds his right hand into Gunn's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Deker is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gunn.

Deker has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Deker there as he acknowledges the shot.
Deker shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Gunn content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Gunn is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Gunn will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gunn is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Deker shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gunn controls the position.
Gunn has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Gunn's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Deker takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Gunn remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
