PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Invisible Stan (ranked 5321 p4p, 446 weight class) and Orival Dalton (ranked 4916 p4p, 430 weight class). Stan's entrance music is Somebody's Watching Me . A fine choice. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Invisible Stan!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Orival Dalton!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Columbo Gatti and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stan bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Dalton looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Stan cracks Dalton with a big right hand but Dalton just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Dalton wants to get back to his feet but Stan drags him back down.

Stan stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Stan tries to clinch up.
Stan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Stan shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Stan wants to control from the top but Dalton keeps moving.
Stan tries to free his leg and advance position but Dalton is retaining full guard.
Dalton keeping moving, preventing Stan from controlling successfully.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Stan's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Stan distracts Dalton with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Stan's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Dalton has his foot on Stan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stan works his way back into a safe position though.

Stan slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Stan postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Stan missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Stan throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dalton works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Stan sitting in guard, not really doing much.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Stan shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Dalton is trying to defend but Stan finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Stan is pressing down on Dalton's thigh, looking to free his foot. Dalton is holding on for now.

Stan is nestled in close to Dalton, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Stan is keen to just control but Dalton is a slippery customer.
Stan trying to mount his opponent but Dalton defends it.
Dalton is pressing down on Stan's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Invisible Stan dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Dalton takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Stan fails in his attempt to clinch.
Dalton is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Dalton avoids the head kick by Stan.
Stan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dalton sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Stan somewhat.
Stan throws a head kick but Dalton moves out of range.
Invisible Stan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
An inside leg kick lands from Stan.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dalton swats away the attempt to clinch by Stan.
Dalton is breathing heavily.

Stan looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Dalton!

Stan wants to stand but Dalton is controlling his arm.
Stan trying to control the action but Dalton is working from the bottom.
You can see the frustration on Dalton's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Stan decides to stand up, so the ref orders Dalton to his feet.

Stan gets a takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dalton tries to get to full guard but Stan has control of the leg.
Dalton is refusing to be controlled, as Stan sits in half guard.
Dalton keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Stan is working for a submission of some sort.

Dalton wants to get back to his feet.
Stan wants to take a breather but Dalton is having none of it.

Stan is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Dalton has managed to free his arm - good work.
Dalton wants to control but Stan is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Stan connects with a jab.

Stan drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Stan avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Dalton looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Stan puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Stan is looking for a kimura here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Invisible Stan dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Stan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Stan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dalton swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Stan is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Dalton can do to turn this around?

Stan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Stan stands up and waves to Dalton to follow him.

Stan throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Dalton tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Stan is in Dalton's guard.
Stan is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Stan postures up.
Dalton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Dalton has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Stan shoots in looking for a takedown. Dalton tries to sprawl out of it but Stan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dalton manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Stan tries to clinch up but Dalton circles away and keeps his distance.
Dalton doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Dalton displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Stan.
Stan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Dalton manages to avoid it.

Dalton shoots in and bounces Stan off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Stan looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Stan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
It looks like Stan is going to stand back up.
Stan trying to pass the guard but Dalton defending well.

Stan is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Stan is thwarting Dalton's attempts to control the position.
Stan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dalton on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stan wants to stand but Dalton has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

Stan is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Dalton is controlling Stan's trapped leg to prevent Stan from advancing to side control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Stan pushes Dalton up against the cage in a clinch.

Dalton is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Dalton looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Stan is looking to stand up but Dalton won't let him.
Dalton bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Stan's guard.


Stan is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Dalton slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Dalton is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stan seems keen to control Dalton's posture.
Stan not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Dalton controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Dalton misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Stan.

Stan rushes Dalton and presses him up against the cage.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Dalton as Stan tries to tie him up.
Stan drops down looking for an ankle pick but Dalton pulls his leg out and moves away.
Stan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dalton sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Stan somewhat.
Dalton changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close fourth round but Orival Dalton will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Dalton fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Stan, pushing him back against the cage.
Stan stalling in the clinch but Dalton improves position.

The fight stays on the outside here - Stan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - a gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.
Stan tries to clinch there but Dalton circles away.
Dalton takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Stan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dalton to the mat! Dalton manages to get full guard.

Stan goes for a double leg but Dalton avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Dalton continues to drive forward.
Stan shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Dalton sprawls well. Dalton wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Stan gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Invisible Stan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Stan drops his hands momentarily and Dalton takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Stan goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Stan tries to close the distance and clinch but Dalton swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Dalton is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Stan darts in and clinches Dalton up against the cage.
Stan is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Dalton pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Dalton jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Stan walks away with a smile on his face. Dalton gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Dalton gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Stan to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Dalton is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Dalton drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Stan gets the underhooks and prevents it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stan goes for a takedown in the clinch but Dalton prevents it.
Dalton goes for a takedown attempt but Stan pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
The fight stays on the outside here - Stan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Orival Dalton.
Well Stan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
