PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Rollins (ranked 5117 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darius Harris (ranked 5010 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Anthony Rollins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Darius Harris!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Chad Campbell and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harris shoots in looking for a takedown. Rollins tries to sprawl out of it but Harris keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rollins manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Rollins shoots in but no luck this time.
Harris throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rollins's waist but Rollins gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Harris off to one side.
Rollins went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Rollins tries to clinch up but Harris circles away and keeps his distance.
Harris steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Rollins.
Harris shoots in looking for a takedown but Rollins manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Harris's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Anthony Rollins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Darius Harris.
Harris tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rollins swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Harris pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rollins throws a nice outside leg kick.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Rollins shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Harris defends it nicely.
Rollins sets himself, and Harris steps forward looking for the clinch! Rollins avoids it this time.

Harris misses with a series of wild punches.
Harris closes the distance and clinches up with Rollins, looking for a takedown. Harris pushes Rollins against the cage but Rollins circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Rollins throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Harris works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rollins loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Rollins looking to sit in guard and control but Harris gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Harris is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Rollins tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Harris is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Harris got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rollins has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Harris has managed to get both his arms back between Rollins's legs - danger averted.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rollins can't keep his opponent in guard - Harris advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Rollins is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

That was a close round but I would say that Anthony Rollins will probably get the nod.

Rollins sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Rollins tries to roll over but Harris keeps him under control.

Harris goes for an armbar but Rollins turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Rollins.

Rollins has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Harris uses from the top position.
