Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Rollins (ranked 4500 p4p, 0 weight class) and Conor Mcgered (ranked 4410 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Anthony Rollins has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Anthony Rollins seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Anthony Rollins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Conor Mcgered!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Anthony Taglia and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rollins pushes Mcgered up against the cage in a clinch.

Rollins breaks the clinch.
Mcgered shoots in but no luck this time.

Mcgered darts in and clinches Rollins up against the cage.
Mcgered is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Rollins goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Rollins tries for a takedown but Mcgered manages to get underhooks.
Rollins keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Mcgered's efforts to push away.

Rollins breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Rollins looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mcgered is fending him off so far but Rollins persists. Nope, Mcgered circles away and we're back to standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rollins closes the distance and clinches up with Mcgered, looking for a takedown. Rollins pushes Mcgered against the cage but Mcgered circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Mcgered tries to clinch up but Rollins circles away and keeps his distance.

Mcgered fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rollins, pushing him back against the cage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rollins decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mcgered, up you get!
Rollins tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mcgered manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Rollins tries to clinch but Mcgered moves out of range.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Rollins drives through and clinches with Mcgered against the cage.

Rollins's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Rollins shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mcgered but Mcgered pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Mcgered closes the distance and pushes Rollins back into the cage.
Rollins tries to pull guard but Mcgered holds him up against the cage and eventually Rollins drops back down to his feet.

Mcgered jumps into guard, dragging Rollins to the mat.
Mcgered tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Mcgered controlling Rollins's posture.
Mcgered wants to improve his position but instead Rollins has moved into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Mcgered crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Rollins - the referee stops the clock and Mcgered gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Rollins. Mcgered manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Anthony Rollins.
