Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Edmond Honda (ranked 1928 p4p, 83 weight class) and Carlos Ruas (ranked 1290 p4p, 53 weight class). Honda kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is E. Honda Stage Theme Extended. Edmond Honda had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carlos Ruas!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Honda scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Ruas regains half guard.
Ruas tries to roll over but Honda keeps him under control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ruas makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ruas.
Ruas is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Ruas passes to full mount!
Ruas wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
Honda sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Ruas trying to control the action but Honda is working from the bottom.

Honda looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ruas keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Ruas tries to pass the half guard into mount. Honda knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Ruas is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Honda is squirming around, avoiding Ruas's attempts to control the action.
Honda is desperately trying to improve his position but Ruas has a good base and remains in mount.

Ruas is working for a guillotine from mount but Honda frees his head quite easily.
Honda has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Honda looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Ruas is working for a rear naked choke. Honda is not defending it well and Ruas has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Honda refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Honda's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Carlos Ruas!
Carlos Ruas decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
