PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Neal Diaz (ranked 1055 p4p, 26 weight class) and William Norman (ranked 1418 p4p, 34 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Neal Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 1, fighting out of New York, William Norman!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Mauricio Rocha and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Norman throws a head kick that misses
enabling Diaz to counter with a crisp jab.

Diaz shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Norman's guard.

Norman slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Norman! But no joy.

Diaz shoots in and bounces Norman off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Diaz throws a nice looking combination but Norman bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Diaz tries to bum rush Norman with a series of wild strikes but Norman uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
As Diaz backs off Norman throws a huge counter combo but Diaz manages to avoid it all.
Norman dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Diaz. That did some damage!

Diaz closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

That was a close round but I would say that Neal Diaz will probably get the nod.

Norman is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Diaz presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

William Norman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Diaz throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Norman on the side of the head.

Diaz tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Norman's elbow.

Diaz looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Norman pushes past his half guard into mount!

Norman takes a swing at Diaz's ribcage but misses.
Norman throws a body punch but Diaz moves out of range.
Norman lands a lovely overhand right.

Diaz has managed to clinch.

Diaz has clasped his hands together around Norman's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Still in half guard, Diaz seems content to control.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

I would just about give that final round to William Norman.
