The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
One Three throws a low kick, looking for Thomson's leg but Thomson calmly moves out of range.
Thomson misses with a two punch combination.
One Three drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Thomson defends it well.
One Three misses the jab.
Nice shot lands for One Three.
One Three darts in looking for a takedown but Thomson gets double underhooks and turns One Three into the cage.
Thomson fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. One Three looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
One Three tests Thomson's chin there with a solid looking shot.
One Three throws an overhand right that lands on Thomson's shoulder, as Thomson tries to avoid the shot.
One Three throws a shot from downtown. Thomson moves away and avoids it.
One Three jabbing away but nothing is landing.
It looked like Thomson was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from One Three.

Thomson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. One Three tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Thomson is in One Three's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
One Three keeping moving, preventing Thomson from controlling successfully.

One Three wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Thomson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging One Three to the ground. Thomson is now in One Three's guard.

One Three throws a leg kick

and Thomson counters with a shoot takedown. One Three fights it but they end up in guard.

This is a sustained period of stalling by Thomson.
Thomson wants to control from the top but One Three keeps moving.

and Thomson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps One Three thinking.
Thomson looks to land a right hand but One Three moved out of range.
One Three walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Thomson checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
One Three defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Thomson.
One Three changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

and One Three counters with a single leg into guard. Thomson didn't expect that.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Darren Thomson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Darren Thomson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Thomson has hold of One Three's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! One Three tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Thomson cranks the arm and One Three screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from One Three, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
