Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Michaels (ranked 3925 p4p, 465 weight class) and Jeffery Berwick (ranked 23501 p4p, 706 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Berwick closes this distance looking for a takedown but Michaels circles away.
Berwick ducks under a wild hook from Michaels.
Jeffery Berwick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A combination from Berwick does no damage.
Berwick looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Berwick slips under a jab.
Michaels misses with a straight right.
Michaels throws a big shot that misses.
Berwick drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Michaels defends it well.
Berwick takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Michaels misses with an uppercut. Berwick saw that one coming.
Berwick throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Michaels lands a big uppercut and Berwick crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Berwick looks OK. Michaels waves Berwick back to his feet!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Berwick shoots for a double leg takedown but Michaels sprawls well. He's pushed Berwick's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Berwick is still on wobbly legs! Can Michaels finish him?
Shawn Michaels has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeffery Berwick.
Michaels is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Berwick.

Berwick shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Michaels defends it nicely.
Berwick seems to have recovered his senses.

Berwick is trying to drag Michaels to the mat but Michaels just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Berwick dodges an elbow strike from Michaels.

Berwick has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Michaels uses from the top position.

Berwick is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Michaels defends well.

Berwick has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Michaels can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Michaels is looking to stand up but Berwick won't let him.

Michaels wants to control from the top but Berwick keeps moving.

Michaels is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Berwick is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Berwick is looking to cinch up a triangle. Michaels throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Berwick's body to avoid the submission. Berwick has instead reached around Michaels's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Berwick arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
