Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cruz Hernandez (ranked 7366 p4p, 542 weight class) and Diego Rivera (ranked 5411 p4p, 468 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Diego Rivera!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Leandro Rodrigues and Seu Braga.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hernandez looks to land a combination but Rivera avoids it well.
Rivera is looking for the big counter here.
Rivera should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Hernandez misses with a few strikes there.
Hernandez looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Hernandez takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Rivera shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hernandez as he jumps to the side.

Hernandez scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rivera manages to get to full guard.
Hernandez slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rivera seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rivera wants to sweep but no luck.
Hernandez working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Hernandez has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Rivera has his foot on Hernandez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hernandez works his way back into a safe position though.

Hernandez content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Rivera has locked up a guillotine! Rivera's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Hernandez is holding on here and Rivera must be using up a lot of energy. Hernandez has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Rivera gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
