PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Arturo Dimagiba (ranked 25842 p4p, 566 weight class) and Dani Woodward (ranked 7829 p4p, 552 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Arturo Dimagiba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dani Woodward!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Sandra Marshall and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Woodward uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Dimagiba.
Woodward steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Dimagiba.
Dimagiba comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Dani Woodward seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Woodward tries for a takedown but Dimagiba sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Woodward moves into the clinch.

Woodward's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Woodward clinches up with Dimagiba and pushes him back against the cage.
Dimagiba is trying to pull guard but Woodward has him pressed against the cage.
Woodward lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Dimagiba backwards.
Dimagiba jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Woodward walks away with a smile on his face. Dimagiba gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Woodward defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Dimagiba.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Arturo Dimagiba. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Woodward clinches up against the cage.

Woodward jumps into guard, dragging Dimagiba to the mat.
Woodward wants to stand up but Dimagiba is controlling him.
Dimagiba trying to stand up but can't free himself from Woodward's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Woodward tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Dimagiba trying to control the position from guard on top but Woodward is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Dimagiba could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Woodward being controlled here, momentarily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Woodward has his hands on Dimagiba's head, controlling the position.
Dimagiba stands and throws Woodward's legs to the side, diving into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Woodward looks to move to half guard but instead Dimagiba has passed into mount! Damn!
Woodward tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Dimagiba trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Dimagiba is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Woodward is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Woodward looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Woodward is wriggling around trying to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Woodward wants to hold on but Dimagiba pushes him away.
Dimagiba lands with some strikes.
Dimagiba trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Woodward is trying to escape the mount.
Woodward wants to control but Dimagiba is having none of it.
Dimagiba postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Woodward looks a forlorn figure.

Dimagiba looking to secure an arm triangle but Woodward defends it well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Dimagiba trying to control but Woodward is having none of it.
Woodward wants to control but Dimagiba is having none of it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Woodward is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Dimagiba avoids the attempt from Woodward to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Arturo Dimagiba will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Dimagiba tries to clinch but Woodward is having none of it.
Woodward tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Dimagiba defends well and Woodward ends up having to push Dimagiba into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Woodward slaps away a takedown attempt from Dimagiba, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Woodward gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Woodward changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Dimagiba fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Dimagiba stuffs the takedown.
Arturo Dimagiba has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dani Woodward.

Woodward clinches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dimagiba struggles to land a body shot inside as Woodward controls his hands.

Woodward breaks the clinch.

Woodward closes the distance and clinches.
Knees in the clinch landing for Woodward.
Dimagiba tries to land knees in the clinch but Woodward avoids the damage to the body.
Woodward has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Dimagiba after a bit of a struggle.
Dimagiba prevents the takedown attempt.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Woodward.

Dimagiba manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Woodward is stalling in the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Woodward wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Dimagiba's closed guard. He's half up but Dimagiba has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Dimagiba pivots and extends the arm, Woodward falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Dimagiba! Well done that man!
