The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fitzpatrick fails with the takedown
and Garcia counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Fitzpatrick.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Garcia scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Sloppy strikes from Garcia. Those never looked like landing.
Fitzpatrick fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Ryan Garcia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kirk Fitzpatrick.
Garcia fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Garcia gets caught napping as Fitzpatrick dives in and scores a takedown. Garcia manages to retain guard.
Fitzpatrick is working Garcia over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Fitzpatrick seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Fitzpatrick is looking to advance position but Garcia won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fitzpatrick stops Garcia from getting back to his feet.

Fitzpatrick in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Garcia tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Fitzpatrick!
