and Makoniko counters with a stiff right hand.

and Mullen takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Mullen bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
It looks like Jonathan Makoniko has been cut.

Makoniko goes for a takedown attempt but Mullen pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Mullen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Makoniko moves away.

Mullen gets through Makoniko's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Mullen lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Makoniko backwards.

Mullen throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Makonikos head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Makoniko tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mullen smiles and moves away.
Mullen connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Makoniko momentarily.
Makoniko is rocked!

Mullen feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Makoniko sprawling to the canvas! Makoniko rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Mullen finish him?!
Oh Makoniko is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jonathan Makoniko's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Mullen misses the body punch
and Makoniko counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Makoniko seems to have got his legs back now.
Makoniko takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Mullen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Makoniko moves away.
Mullen waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Makoniko.
Nice shot lands for Mullen.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

It looked like Makoniko was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Mullen.

and Makoniko counters with a lovely straight right hand!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Makoniko with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Mullen to score with a decent uppercut.
Mullen drives through and clinches with Makoniko against the cage.
Makoniko tries to pull guard but Mullen holds him up against the cage and eventually Makoniko drops back down to his feet.
Still in the clinch, Mullen scores with a nice short uppercut.

Mullen creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Makoniko with a big uppercut! Makoniko tries to clinch up but Mullen pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Makoniko to the mat! Makoniko covers up and Mullen unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
