PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Warren Jackson (ranked 4702 p4p, 4838 weight class) and Jake Parkinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake Parkinson!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, William Gold and James Ackerman.





The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jackson feints and as Parkinson raises his hands in defense, Jackson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Parkinson has control of Jackson's left arm, preventing Jackson from doing any damage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Parkinson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Parkinson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Parkinson wants to stand up but Jackson is controlling him.

Jackson drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Parkinson dives on top into guard.

Jackson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Parkinson defends well.
Parkinson is in close to Jackson's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Jackson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Parkinson's guard.

Jackson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Parkinson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jackson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Jackson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Parkinson defends it easily.

Jackson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Parkinson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Jackson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jackson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Parkinson on the ground.
Parkinson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Jackson wants to control the position but Parkinson says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Jackson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Parkinson is working away from the top position though.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Jackson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Parkinson is trying to defend but Jackson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Parkinson is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Parkinson is pressing down on Jackson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Jackson has gone for a leg lock! Parkinson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jackson's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jackson wants to control but Parkinson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Jackson wants to control but Parkinson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Parkinson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jackson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Jackson tries to roll over but Parkinson keeps him under control.
Parkinson uses his free foot to push down on Jackson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jackson.

Parkinson cracks Jackson with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Parkinson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Parkinson lands a couple of good shots and Jackson has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Jake Parkinson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Parkinson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jackson sprawls well initially but Parkinson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Parkinson scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Jackson to see if he's OK.

Jackson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Parkinson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Parkinson has an Americana. Jackson didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Parkinson is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Parkinson hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
